A garden wedding by the beach has got to be the best of both worlds and Desmond and Katherine’s wedding was a beautiful, relaxed vintage inspired day.
Their ceremony was held against a tropical forest backdrop in a secluded corner of Clifton Gardens Reserve. After their intimate ceremony, Vitek and I took the couple for a walk and photos along the Chowder Bay beach and jetty, which reflected the couple’s easy going approach perfectly.
Des and Katherine’s ceremony was at Ripples Chowder Bay, a gorgeous restaurant that overlooked the whole bay. As day turned to night, food gave way to cake and dancing, and dance they did! A small live music band got everyone up on their feet playing a fun mix of gypsy tunes.
Vitek and I make a point of staying til the very end of weddings we shoot when the couple has a great exit planned. Des, Katherine and their guests were whisked back to the city in the cutest wooden boat I’ve ever seen. When we turned to leave as the boat pulled away, we heard everyone singing onboard, definitely the most satisfying way to end a long hard working day.

We recently shot Robert & Brooke’s simple but stunning winter wedding at Sydney’s Dunbar House and it’s been featured on the Modern Wedding website. Just take a look at Brooke’s beautiful lace wedding dress, doesn’t it make you want to get married already?
Our blog post on this gorgeous day to come soon!
Last weekend we went to take a look at the David Jones Bridal Fair, it was held on the beautiful, bright and airy 7th floor of its Park St building. The ornate high ceiling, huge windows looking out onto Hyde Park and polished wooden floor boards definitely set an elegant tone to the fair. David Jones did an amazing job decorating the space and we couldn’t help ourselves but take loads of snaps of the beautiful decorations, table settings and flower arrangements.
The David Jones sign made out of leaves and flowers wowed us as did the huge floral archway. The table decorations were cute and whimsical, there were porcelain love birds, fruits and dolls shielded by delicate glass domes. Bouquets of tulips, daisies and carnations in bright spring colours were dotted around in crystal vases, bowls and even vintage inspired medicine bottles. We especially loved the large clear glass jars filled with colourful ribbons and flowers, such a lovely and pretty touch! Of course we also have to mention the utterly amazing ribbons canopy backdrop right at the entry of the fair. The height and drape of it commands the room and draws people in, the fairy lights stringed amongst it added dimension and the pool of colourful ribbons and lights on the floor is just too pretty for words.
We hope you enjoyed these photos as much as we did taking them and take away some inspirations for your own big day too!
